C)How this survival skill relates to something i didn in class is becasue i had to learn more and calculate what i thought each thing meant. When we did the IT presentations my subject was processing and hardware devices. At first i didnt even know what those 2 things were and i had to do a whole project on it. I read the information and broke it down and had to really think what information went where. I finally learned what each thing meant and what catagory it should be in.
D)ONe class i took that had to do with this survival skill is MAth B. The type of math that you learned in that class is so confusing. It took alot of thinking and unlike math classes from when you are much younger this math is much more difficult. You have to break down the infomation as best as you can. I think this demonstates the skill i choose because it directly relates to it becasue this class involves alot of thinking and is not easy at all.

C. In this class I have promoted the development of curiosity and imagination with my urge to learn more about computers. If I was not curious about the capabilities of computers I would have never decided to take this class. I got to learn things about excel that I never knew before such as formatting tables and using formulas more efficiently.
D. In this class I have learned a lot about the usefulness of curiosity and imagination. For example, in the Google spreadsheet project I had to create my future expenses in life. I also had to think of what I wanted my future job to be which requires my imagination. This was similar with guessing how much I would be spending on each subject and my family structure. I now feel like I will be more prepared for college when the time comes.
On this quiz I feel as though I completed all the tasks well. 100.

C) This IT Team project has promoted this skill by having each group look up a different topic and then present it. I love technology and this project was a perfect match. I liked working hard on it and it was very interesting trying to imagine how many pennies would fit where. And compare that to the size of memory that we use today.
D) In Web Design with Ms. Giambra our final project was devoloping our own website for our own fake company. I loved doing that project and worked on it everyday. I would love to own my own business and imagining one to build a website for was a perfect fit. It promoted many different Survival Skills such as, Survival Skill 7 Curiosity & Imagination, and Survival Skill 4 Initiative & Entrepreneurialism, and Survival Skill 1 Critical Thinking & Problem Solving. All of these were involved because we had to imagine our own business that we had to build a website from scratch, and solve all the problems related to creating a website.

C) In this class, I have recently encouraged development of Survival Skill #6 on the IT Team Presentation. For this presentation I had to research information about Software and Business Applications.I had to search my topic on the web and I found a lot of information about it. I was also able to tell if the information was good and could be used in my presentation. Also I had to be able to understand the information because I have to present the information to my class.
D) One class that I have taken which promoted Survival Skill #6,was Sports and Entertaining Marketing. In this class I learned how to take control and work on my own.We worked in teams on many projects and I took the part as team leader making sure my team was keeping on track. Also we had to do a lot of single person projects and this relates to survival skills because you have to finish work by yourself and complete it by yourself.

C) In this class, I've recently encouraged the development of Survival Skill #6 on the IT Team Presentation. For this presentation I was required to research information about my topic, Software and Business Applications. To do this, I searched my topic on the web and found a good amount of information about it. I was also able to tell if the information was reliable and could be used in my presentation. Beyond that, I had to be able to understand the information because I was required to present it. I had to analyze my info and be knowledgeable of it in order to teach my peers effectively.
D) One class that I have taken which strongly promoted Survival Skill #4, Initiative & Entrepreneurialism, was Sports and Entertaining Marketing. In this class I retained many skills that helped me to be creative and take control. We worked in teams on many projects and I took the role as team leader making sure my team was keeping on track, getting everything done, and mainly just bringing everything together. Some projects that I completed in this class were making my own sports team, creating a super hero, create a TV show, create advertisements and more. I had to come up with a plan, decide on all aspects of the project, and put it together to make it work. I also was required to present my work to the class and share my ideas often. This class brought out skills of initiative and entrepreneurialism because I pretty much took a challenge and started from scratch to come up with my own ideas and make something good out of it. From the work I completed in that class, I feel that I would be very successful in a career where I could manage my own business, take the role of a leader, or in marketing.
I would give myself a 100% on this quiz because I answered all the questions completely and in a organized format. My answers are very detailed and I followed the directions.

C.Skill number 7 has come into play while I was working on my spreadsheet project. I had to use my imagination to come up with prices for each individual expense for each age group. I had to do some research to find quotes on different things such as rent and internet ant stuff. Other expesnes I went to my parents for such as heat, water, and electric.(25)
D. I am currently in Advanced Drawing and Painting. It is critical to possess survival skill number 7, Curiosity and Imagination in this class. We are currently working on an altered book page. An altered book is any book, old or new that has been recycled by creative means into a work of art. They can be rebound, painted, cut, burned, folded, added to, collaged in, gold-leafed, rubber stamped etc. Our latest assignment was to create a book page with flaps. Out of all the altered book pages I have done so far, this is definitely the most challenging for me. Our directions were to come up with something under the flap that is unexpected based on what we create on the rest of our 2 page spread. It took me two days to come up with a creative idea that was unexpected. For my altered book page I plan on painting the 2 pages entirely blue then paint clouds over it to make a sky scene. I am going to print off pictures of different sized balloons in different colors. The balloons are going to act as my flaps, and under them will be images of sharp objects that would pop balloons. This assignment took a lot of thought and imagination. It took me a while to come up with the idea but I am excited to get started on this very unusual project. (50)

C. Critical thinking and problem solving survival skills are some of the key factors of this course. Throughout the past few weeks, the students and I have been working on projects that allow us to exercise our brains, and use critical thinking. One of the most recent projects that we are working on is an Excel Spreadsheets Project. The main objective of this project is to research and realize how a personal budget works. It makes you realize what future expenditures I will have, and how important it is to budget. (25)
D. Effective Oral & Written Communication Survival Skill:
One class that was really effective in my oral and written communications skills was my English 12 Communications Class. In this class, we spent much of the time creating resumes, writing letters and memos. These are important things that many young adults should know how to do in order to communicate in the business world. By taking this class, I was able to learn how to present all my information in a professional manner. Before taking Communications Class, I did not know how many types of letters there were, and when you use each type of letter. I know these important skills will stay with me as I use them for college and job applications.(20)

c) The personal budget project let me explore my imagination and curiosity because I planned what I wanted my life to be. Where I saw myself ending up but really all that could not happen to me. It gave me a chance to explore my life. I want my life to end up that way and I hope it does but also I could make another plan completely different. I don’t really know where I’m going to end up I can just assume certain aspects and explore them. It gave me a chance to step back and see what the life I want to lead would actually cost and if I did see myself with kids and a husband and when.
d)5 - Effective Oral & Written Communication
In English we had to read and present our one essay. It helped my oral skills because I had to get up there and try to not be nervous or be shaky. I had to calm myself down and know how to present myself and my voice in order for people to understand me clearly and take effect on them. If I would of stuttered and been quiet no one would of gotten what my essay was about, it would have had no effect at all. The piece of work I had written to read also had to be clear and understandable, if it wasn’t and I started reading it even if my oral communication was good I would be reading something that was unclear. Also in written communication if things were spelled wrong I would have messed up words when reading it out loud or if someone was reading it would have been confused.
I give myself a 100 on this quiz because i feel as if i answered each question to my full potential. Also i feel my answers were originial and came from me noone else.

ReplyDeleteA. I am going to discuss the Critical Thinking & Problem Solving Survival Skill, which is Survival Skill number one.

C. Critical Thinking consists of a mental process of analyzing or evaluating information, which is a big part in this class. When working on the Excel Projects in class, we had to learn and process information before we were able to put it to use and do the projects. Also, a lot of analyzing goes into the Google Spreadsheet project we recently just did. By ourselves we all had to research information about how much money is spent on certain taxes at different ages. All the projects we have done so far in this class dealt with Critical thinking and Problem solving, and i guarantee there will be more to come. Not only in this class, but in many others this one survival skill can be used.
D. In English class recently i have used Survival Skill number seven, which is Curiosity and Imagination. Last week we had to write our own adventure story and share it with our teacher. The writing of the story took a lot of imagination, because I was gave no ideas. I had to come up with everything by myself. It took a lot of time to brainstorm all the ideas but my imagination took part in helping me. Also curiosity is used while in English while reading. I was recently reading a book report book and my curiosity led me to reading on. I think survival skill seven is used greatly in English class. From writing, to reading, both curiosity and imagination are used. Just like survival skill number one, this skill is used when it comes to many different subjects.
SELF GRADE: I feel as if i completed everything asked in this quiz to my greatest ability, and therefor i would give myself a 100.

B). “Our capacities for imagination, curiosity, and empathy will be increasingly important to our competitive advantage in the future.”
C). I've recently encouraged the development of Survival Skill #7 on the IT Team Presentation. For this presentation my group and I were assigned to research the topic input and output devices. I searched information on the web and found interesting facts that supported the topic. Curiosity and imagination was used when I found something interesting and wonder how could that work, and who could of came up with that idea.
D). A class that I’ve taken that strongly promoted survival skill # 5 Effective Oral & Written Communication would be Spanish. In this class we would have to take many speaking tasks were you would communicate with the teacher and have a conversation in Spanish for a certain span of time. A lot of practice was needed to be able to effectively communicate with the teacher with minimum errors. Also in this class we would have to create written essays in Spanish that helped establish a strong written communication to the teacher.

ReplyDeleteA. The skill i am going to discuss is Survival Skill #1 which is critical thinking and problem solving.

C. This class deals with a lot of critical thinking and problem solving. For all of the excel lessons, we had to learn processes that were used at the end of each lesson. I had to solve problems when I came across a direction I didn't understand. Each project we had to do so far let us students explore the computer and use critical thinking. The future expenses project we recently had to do, involved a lot of critical thinking. We had to plan out out future and come up with expenses that are accurate.
D. A class that helps students practice the survival skill #1 is math. Last half i was in geometry that used a lot of critical thinking and problem solving. I think that any math is mostly made up of problem solving. If its dealing with algebra or just simple math its all problem solving! Math can be confusing, so when you take it step by step, and really think about the problem, it gets much easier.
On this quiz i would give myself an 100% because i answered all the questions the best I can. I answered all questions and my work was organized.

C.) I used Survival Skill #7 while working on my spreadsheet project. While working on my spreadsheet project, I had to use my curiosity and imagination to make my personal budget planner. I had to use my imagination to plan where I would be at age 20,30,40,50,and 70 and to make my project look the best that it could look. I had to use my curiosity to figure out things that I didn't know how to do.
D.) In my Creative Writing class, i have to use my curiosity and imagination to be successful in my writing. If you don't use your imagination to write, your papers will be dull and boring. I've also found that it helps to make a good paper by using topics that relate to your life. If you ever get stuck or don't know what to write about, use your imagination and think of something that's happening or has happened in your life. Also, if your curious about something, it could also make a great paper.

C.)I used this survival skill while working on the google slideshow presentation for future trends and technologies. At some points I wasn't sure how to convey a certian point across, so I had to use my imagination to think of different ways to present my information in an easy to understand format.
D.) I had to use this skill in my English 12 class last semester because some of the work entailed coming up with stories or writing assignments that were a little outside of the box. In order to successfully complete these assignments I had to use curiosity to find out good information and my imagination to think of ways to cleverly present those ideas.
Self-Evaluate- I would give my self a 95 on this quiz because I posted it late, but I answered the questions to the fullest of my abilities, and think that my answers to this quiz were well thought out and honest.

C. For some of the excel projects i did not understand, I had to really think about how to solve my problem.
D. I have had to use these 7 skills for Pop culture projects, such as the KKK project i recently did. I wrote about how the KKK impacted the 1920's greatly and limited immigration.

B) "I must do something" always solves more problems than "Something must be done".
C) When there is a problem you try to understand what it is and the fix it to the best of your ability. Understanding and comprehending what has to be done to complete the task. Also completing this course itself will enhance my critical thinking and problem solving.
D) Another class that used some of these survival skill would have to be chemistry and chem lab. In many of the labs that you do in chem lab you have to figure out what you have to do and solve a problem. Labs like making things launch with different types of gases and thinking of ways to solve a problem. I think this way because in science there is a lot of trial and error and in that process you have to use problem solving skills. Also you have to use critical thinking to solve the problem that you are working at.

C) How this survival skill relates to something I did in class is because we did a google presentation where we were only allowed to talk through the google docs. It made me curious to what my group members were thinking since we were not allowed to talk to them.
D) The class that I have taken that relates to Curiosity and Imagination is Photography. When you are shooting different assignments you are in a whole different world and need to imagination what would take a great picture and use different objects to make the whole photograph interesting. I was curious on how the photo would turn out and how to make things appeal to the eye.

C. I have used imagination and curiosity in this class when we did the google docs presentation. We were only able to speak to our group members over google docs. Sometimes it was hard to actually know what someone was trying to say so it kept you thinking. We also had to actually come up with a good idea for the project to present to the class that was informational.
D. A different class that i had to use curiosity and imagination in was photography. For our final project, we had to pick someone that influences our lives, then take photos of things that represent them. I had to think of something creative that really expressed who i picked. Another major part of this project was to find some sort of container that also represents them to collage the photos in. I wanted to come up with the best one possible and get a good grade. i chose my dad and then expressed the photos in a tool box. When we were done we then had to present our projects to the class and talk about why we did what we did.

C. In web design you need to use your imagination and see the web page you are going to create in your head before you start to make it. You also need to be curious and try new things and see how it affects your web page either in a good or bad way.
D. In business class we needed to think of a business to start up and it had to be of something in the future. we needed to use our imagination and think of a product that would sell well in the futuristic world. I feel i worked my imagination skill because i had to think of what the future would be like and then put up a product that would sell in the future.

C. In this class we had to adapt to the rules that Mr. Turton has because this is a college class and things have to be taken more seriously. We have to be focused on our work even more now because the grades we earn will be on our college transcript forever. When trying to get into a college they will be looking at the grades we have earned, so we want them to be the best they can be so we have to adapt to a good work ethic if we want to do well in this class. D. In other classes we have done projects where we had to present information we researched to the class. I am not a very loud person and I don’t like presenting in front of my peers. For these projects I had to make adjustments to make sure that I spoke loud and clearly to the class, trying not to get nervous so I could speak louder. C. I explored my curiosity and imagination by taking this class and wanting to expand my knowledge of computers and the ways they can be used not just for fun but for work oriented necessities as well.
D. Any project that you get assigned to do in a class where maybe you’re not the best of friends with those in your group promote survival skill #2, collaboration across networks and leading by influence. When you work in a group it’s important that sometimes you are going to have to compromise to prevent fighting and tension and you see this every time you work with a group on a project.

C. In this class there are many new things to learn and instead of giving up you have to stick with it and learn how to do it. Almost every every new task will require a problem to be solved.
D.Last year in POE we were given the task of launching a tennis ball through certain obsticals. I had to think what the problem was and how to solve it to complete the task. this relates to the skill of critical thinking and problem solving because we had to figure it out on our own.

B. “Limitations live only in our minds. But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.”
C. I had to use my imagination in this class when creating a power point. I had to make sure everything looked good and was visually appealing. I had to imagine what the final presentation was going to look like and make it happen.
D. In DDP I had to use imagination to design many different objects. This promoted the skill because you had to use your imagination to create something that never existed before I created it.
100/100 because I answered all parts in the correct format.
